[Translation] DUET 12/2010 (Nissy x Shohei Miura)
I hope you all enjoy this. It's the interview from DUET Dec issue that was posted a couple days ago. I think it's really cute!
This translation is mine and I'd appreciate it if it stayed on this community. So please don't repost this anywhere, thanks!

The Greatest Weapon Is Not A Sword, But Relying On Others' Talents!?
Two Good Friends Co-Star Once Again For SAMURAI 7
Taking place at the Aoyama Theatre from 11/20, Shohei-kun will be starring as the lead role in his first stage play SAMURAI 7. With the themes of Seven Samurai, the original directed by Akira Kurosawa, this is a story depicting seven samurai who risk their lives fighting to save helpless farmers in a far, distant past. Co-starring with Nishijima-kun, aka Nissy, the two spoke with me at the stylish neighborhood of Kagurazaka.

The Spoiled Child VS The Master Imitator!?
Nishijima
Ever since appearing together in the drama Tumbling, Sho-chan has the image of a spoiled child to me
Miura
Yup, I am spoiled (haha)
Nishijima
Even when we went for drinks Sho-chan asked me for advice about life, you know. Stuff like "How do I do my final income tax returns?"(haha)
Miura
I did, I did (laughs). Because Nissy is a nice guy, I want his advice! But, since he is a nice guy, I wait for his earth-shattering face of happiness too, you know. Not to mention he's talented. Of course his acting and dancing are really good, but so are his imitations! He's like a god at imitating noises, like the sound a Famicon makes when it breaks, lol.
Nishijima
When everyone was exhausted, I always wondered how I could cheer them up~
Miura
While filming Tumbling, we developed a really good relationship. I think I saw it on DVD when I watched it the other day.
Nishijima
It was good, wasn't it? 'Cuz we hang out in private. Though we haven't had the time to meet up lately.
Miura
Nissy is always busy with things like dramas and tours, you know~. So being able to work together again makes me happy!
Nishijima
Me too~!
Sempai, I rely on you in so many ways!
Miura
My role is Katsushiro. Although he's a samurai, he can't kill anyone. In short, he's good for nothing, lol.
Nishijima
And my role is Kyuzo. Although he's terribly lonely, after learning the importance of living thanks to Katsushiro and Kambei, he's a person who fights for the sake of his existence. I think he's a character who will be seen as someone who tells us about the happiness in living.
Miura
One would expect such a straight-forward explanation from you!
Nishijima
As for Sho-chan's role, although he doesn't kill people, I don't think that's a reason to see him as a kind person. And so, I think what kind of character he will be seen as is someone who gives people serious injuries
Miura
You know, that's what I just said (not really)
Nishijima
So then, the 'I-can't-kill-anyone' Sho-chan, please tell us instead
Miura
Yes, just as I planned! ahaha.
Nishijima
Even when we were doing Tumbling, I was always taking in information with this kind of serious feeling
Miura
When (Kento) Kaku-kun, Yusuke (Yamamoto) and I were present, that's when Nissy's seriousness shined.
Nishijima
Speaking of Yusuke, I think he's a really sweet and random person (laughs) He often goes off-topic during our conversations
Miura
Seems like he gets that from Nissy. Really, Nissy is a gentleman! Every so often, I still need to consult him even now. This is the first time I've had to ask about how to properly handle a sword you know.
Nishijima
Same for me too
Miura
Nissy, your role requires you to use two katanas, doesn't it?
Nishijima
Yeah. The other day I practiced using two swords for the first time and it was tough! You gotta decide where to place your foot when you cut using one katana right from the start. When you swing down from the upper right to the lower left, you draw your left foot behind you. If you don't, you will sever your own foot with the blade. But with two katanas, I use stabbing motions, so I don't need to decide foot positioning.
Miura
Well it would be amazing to wield 3 swords like Zoro you know (haha) Though Nissy is talented so it's okay. As for me, or perhaps I should say sword battling, is a first time for me in this stage play.
Nissy
No way-! Really!?
Miura
This is about the third time you're playing a lead role, right Nissy? You play lead parts. You know, I wonder if my voice will be properly carried to the audience?
Nishijima
For stage plays, it's better to stick to your natural voice as best you can since the mic's volume will be raised if the audience is unable to hear you from where they are.
Miura
Then surely my throat can handle it
Nishijima
Definitely, using your voice for Katsushiro will be easy. Even if you shout things like "UAAAA!"
Miura
Is "Oo" and "Uh" not good enough? haha. It's just that my throat is super weak, so I'm worried
Nishijima
Sho-chan is playing the lead so when I thought that it may be stressful for him, I felt it was okay to have conversations with the director like "Today will be stressful on the throat, so is it okay to suck on a candy while we practice?"
Miura
In this case, it's bad to work too hard
Nishijima
When you don't use your base voice, you'll kill your throat as the performances go by. I did that my first time on stage. When the second performance came, my throat was so worn out from the rehearsals that I really had to inject my voice into every performance.
Miura
Wow, that sounds painful~ (>.>;;)
Nishijima
Theatre actors have excessively powerful throats. I'm competitive, so I tried my best to match the strength of their voices. Sho-chan is the same, so I hope that he won't make the same mistake.
Miura
Yeah, I'll be careful!
In our last moments, Dragon Ball to One Piece!?
Miura
The more I believe the tickets are worth the money, the more I want to entertain the audience. That is my goal. Having said that, the performances for the final day immediately sold out.
Nishjima
Because we give the same performance everyday, theatre enthusiasts enjoy the final day. They expect to see us adlib a bit.
Miura
Is that so? Well then, I guess I'll have to adlib if I break character, huh (lol)
Nishijima
I had to do that one time, you know. At random, for a depressing role. Of course, I was properly depressing when I needed to be, but at the last moment, my normal self came out. When I started messing around, the other actors followed suit. (haha)
Miura
Ah, then on the last day, maybe I'll actually kill someone! (ahaha) And in the middle, I'll become a super saiyan. And then Nissy will wield three swords
Nishijima
No no no, they'll be expecting that now (laughs) Though I want to grow as an actor that can have that same kind of flexibility on stage
Miura
Since teamwork is no problem for us, let's do our best!

Shohei: Wanna go to Gyoza no Ohsho? | Nissy: Sounds good~
I chose to keep in the title suffixes because I think it's really cute that Nissy calls him Sho-chan
Also, translating the title was the hardest part for some reason. But I think it makes sense when you read the entire interview
